First Gen Voices

The Bureau of Study Counsel, with funding from a private donor and Harvard College, brought StoryCorps to the Harvard campus during Junior Parents Weekend 2016 to record conversations between first-gen Harvard students and someone who matters to them.  You are invited to listen to excerpts of these recordings on the BSC website at First-Gen Voices of Harvard College Students and Their Families.

Being a first-generation college student at Harvard can be many things— invigorating, confusing, isolating, and transforming. Many first-gen students find it challenging to convey to their families, friends, and mentors back home their experience of being a student at Harvard.  They struggle to bridge the world of home and the world of Harvard. These recordings speak the students' lives here, at Harvard, relate to their lives at home.
